Old Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors

This smoke detector was installed in 1994, and is WAY past its prime! As a rule, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors should be replaced every 10 years. If you can’t figure out the age but the cover has yellowed, just go ahead and replace it. If your smoke or carbon monoxide detector is not yet 10 years old, make sure to test it and replace the battery as we move into the fall season.
